Wine: Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay 2014 (limited supply): a New Zealand chardonnay that is every bit as good as a 1er Cru PulignyMontrachet, and similar in style with stunning freshness, length and minerality. Sadie Family, Old Vine Series Pofadder 2014 (limited supply): cinsault based wine from Swartland, South Africa. Fresh strawberry, red fruits, taut and crisp. Fabulous taste. Croix de Rambeau, St. Emilion 2011: 90% merlot, 10% cabernet franc. Fruity, elegant, well structured. Charvin Chateauneuf du Pape 1999 (limited supply): 85% Grenache, 5% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre and 5% Vaccarese. Medium to full-bodied, pure and elegant; the wine sees absolutely no oak, aging 21 months in large concrete tanks. Marques de Riscal Reserva, Rioja 2001: traditional rioja from a great vintage. 90% tempranillo and 10% gracinao and mazuelo. Medium bodied, plenty of plum, black cherry and blackberry favors nicely intertwined with ripe tannins. Spice Route Pinotage 2014: South Africa’s own grape from a good year and a good maker. Black plums and cherries, with dark spice and cedar.
