2007 Barbaresco Tasting (starts at 6.30 prompt):
Matteo Manfio, the LUCA wine director, will lead a tasting of 5 wines from Produttori del Barbaresco, 4 single vineyard offerings and a multi-vineyard blend. We will compare these traditionally made wines with a more “modern” and significantly more expensive San Lorenzo single vineyard wine from Barbaresco superstar Angelo Gaja.
We have enough wine to increase availability of seats to 32 and will run a wait list.
Price: CI$35 per person.
Dinner (7.15)
Champagne & canapes in the bar are whilst the staff re-set the tables.
We have an eclectic selection of wines. Starting with a Schmidl Gruner Veltliner 2016 from the top Kellerberg vineyard in Wachau, Austria, followed by two Domaine Drouhin 2015 pinot noirs served side by side; one from Burgundy and one from Oregon. An opportunity to compare new world and old world wines from the same maker. We then have 2 typical Bordeaux cabinet sauvignon based blends, but neither from Bordeaux! The Super Tuscan Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia 2010, a cabernet based blend from Bolgheri, served side by side with the excellent Kanonkop Paul Sauer 2011 from South Africa (a classic Bordeaux blend of 70% cabernet sauvignon, 15% cabernet franc and 15% merlot). It should be an interesting contrast. The dessert wine, Gini’s Col Foscarin, is a recioto di soave from Venito, made only in the best years.
Price: CI$175 per person.
Diner & tasting: CI$210 per person
We do not expect that there will be space for guests at the tasting, but they are welcome at the dinner.
We expect a big turnout for this event so early reservations are recommend.
