Hollywood Glitz and Glamour

Thanks, Karon and Billy Hill, for a delicious and fun time at your Texas-style BBQ.  It was a postcard-perfect evening.  Great wines!  Delicious BBQ, especially those burnt ends.  And delightful camaraderie. 

Now get ready for an evening of Hollywood glitz and glamour.  Inspired by a menu from The French Laundry Restaurant and driven by the desire to cast off our tatty daytime pajamas, our next event will be at 6:30 pm on November 10 at the Austin Club.   They have created a special menu and wine pairings just for us (click here).  Check out the Lobster Salad served in the shell and the Gulf Coast Pompano en Papillote!

The cost is $125 per person (all inclusive) for members and $140 per person for guests.  Log in to your IW&FS account and click here to register.  Please note any food allergies in the comments section of your registration. 

The Board voted to suspend payment via PayPal, so please send a check payable to IW&FS-Austin to Treasurer Ruth Ann Plotkin at 1301 W 9th 1/2 Street, Apt 300, Austin, TX 78703. The registration and payment deadline is November 1.

Dress is elegant and over-the-top Hollywood glamour and bling – think movie stars, Beverly Hills, Catalina, Rodeo Drive.  Let me know by responding to this email what you want written, if anything, on your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The evening will involve a contest for centerpieces that reflect the Hollywood theme.  Attendees will be invited to mill from centerpiece to centerpiece during the passed appetizer course to do the judging.  Centerpieces created by the first five people (or teams) who volunteer by responding to this email are eligible for fine-wine prizes.
