Summer is ending, and our Steering Committee selected an old favorite restaurant, located in quaint Mountain Brook Village, to celebrate the change of seasons from summer to fall. The restaurant has recently changed its name to "dg" to reflect the buy-out by Daniel Briggs from his former partner. After graduating from University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, Chef Briggs received his culinary degree from Johnson & Wales University in Vail, Colorado. His philosophy of food is that it should speak for itself, with minimal processing of ingrediants. He favors using local produce, and prefers the lighter side of food and cooking, with sauces and relishes. He serves American cuisine in an elegant, yet unpretentious atmosphere, with an ever-changing menu of gulf coast sefood, wild and domestic game, meats, poultry, and fresh local produce, all prepared with regional and international influences.
As is usual with events at this restaurant, we had a good turnout, and all had a great time.
