This event marks our Branch's 5th visit to this outstanding restaurant in Birmingham. It has been a perenial favorite amongst our membership. Chef Magee's trademark is specializing in personally cultivated perveyors of the freshest and most wholesome ingredients for the food he prepares. As usual, the dishes were exceptional. The wines were selected by Charles Yeates and Charles Fry, and although some of the producers and varietals were not as well-known as our usual selections, the pairings showed extremely well. It is always nice to make new friends!
Meal 1: HORS D'OEUVRES: "Redneck Rockefeller" (Gulf Oysters topped with House Pimento Cheese, Wilted Collard Greens, Crispy Bacon & Dusted Shallots). "Crostini" (Toasted Sourdough, House-made Sausage, Stout Mustard & Citrus Marmalade).

Meal 2: FIRST COURSE: Butter Poached Gulf Shrimp Panzanella Salad with Haricots Vert, Cherry Tomatoes and Kalamata Olives.

Meal 3: SECOND COURSE: Gulf Black Grouper with Spinach Soubise, Poached Gulf Oysters, and Paddlefish Caviar.
Wine 3: Robert Sinskey Abraxas Vin de Terrior "Scintilla Sonoma Vineyard," Los Carneros 2011.
Meal 4: THIRD COURSE: Bourbon Braised Duroc Pork Shank with Rosemary Apples, Celery Root Puree and Red Wine Agrodolce.
