Florida Keys Wine & Food Event – A Culinary Trolley Tour Around Marathon, June 8, 2024

On June 8, 2024, we embarked on a delightful trolley tour around Marathon, part of the Florida Keys Wine & Food event, indulging in a series of exquisite appetizer and wine pairings at some of the town's finest restaurants.

Our evening began at The Table Restaurant, where we were welcomed with a sparkling 2018 Argyle Vintage Brut and a crisp 2022 Crossbarn Chardonnay, perfectly paired with a zesty Shrimp Escabeche. The flavors were a refreshing prelude to the culinary journey ahead.

Next, the trolley whisked us away to SkipJack Restaurant, where we savored an array of mouthwatering dishes: grilled beef & tomato filo, prosciutto-wrapped shrimp drizzled with balsamic glaze, a carefully curated charcuterie board, chicken mushroom pastry puffs, tuna tataki, and grilled octopus. Each bite was complemented by the bright and aromatic notes of a Spanish 2022 Marqués de Cáceres Verdejo.

Our third stop brought us to the Lighthouse Grill, where we were treated to their house favorite, Cuban Rice Balls, paired with a delicate August Kesseler Riesling, R Kabinett Rheingau from Germany. The combination was a delightful dance of flavors that left us eager for more.

Finally, we arrived at Tranquility Bay just as the sun dipped below the horizon. We ended the evening with a decadent port and cheesecake finale, accompanied by the golden hues of the sunset and the soothing sounds of the ocean, all while dancing the night away.
