This was a lively and fun event held in a location previously occupied (for 30 years) by The Cafe de Paris, a small 5 star restaurant, which was nationally known... The current restaurant (Italian Gardens) was named after the first restaurant in the same location. For many of us, former customers of the Cafe de Paris, , re-visiting a new restaurant at this site was rather nostalgic, and although the regular menu is scaled down from the "old days, we were not disappointed in the food or service. 30 people attended, including 6 guests. In addition to enjoying a 7 course meal, we were enlightened and entertained by John Brewer from the Johnson Wine Distributers. John prefaced his remarks stating he assummed we were more interested in having fun than being bored by listening to a discourse on malolactic fermentation, and he kept his promise. He did describe each wine, after that he quoted famous people from history, known for an interest in Wine and Spirits. These interesting quotes were from Ernest Hemmingway, Benjamen Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Wenston Churchill. After the quotes, we were asked to salute the people at our table, which increased the level of noise (and fun).
