Dear Wine and Food Society Friends,

We have planned a very special holiday treat for this year.  This formal, black-tie with medallion celebration will take place on Sunday, December 13.  Our venue is the incomparable Manor House at the Houstonian with entertainment provided by Virtuosi. Due to the limited availability of some of the wines being poured, we must limit ourselves to only 56 people.

Executive Chef Neal Cox, supported by Jeff Boudreax (trained at Lenôtre) and Roland Soza (formerly of Brennans) will regale us with several extraordinary dishes. Starting with a special rosè bubbly, a superb selection of passed Hors d’oeuvres will be followed by a seasonal chestnut bisque. Next, a potato crusted grouper will be accompanied with a lobster cognac volute. After a sorbet intermezzo, will be a second entrée of braised veal short ribs and all the fixings.  Paired with this will be a truly dynamic wine – the 1998 Cos d’Estournel, consuming the entire remaining cellar supply of this wine.  This is truly going to be a special treat. The cheese course will be paired with a unique sauvignon blanc from Altamura – definitely NOT what you’d expect from this grape, and a real contrast to the Cloudy Bay paired with the grouper. And, then there is dessert! Please refer to the attached menu and description of wines for further details.

Our evening will begin at 6:00 pm with a reception in the bar area, decorated for the season, with fire in the fireplace.  Throughout the evening, the music of the String Quartet will add to the unique ambiance.

The cost for our Holiday Dinner will be $195 for members and $225 for guests.  Please bear in mind that the pricing is only possible due to use of our cellar, plus a per person subsidy from the chapter to help balance the budget.   We will be enjoying some fairly expensive wines during the event.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to this special evening to celebrate the holiday season with great friends, great food and great wine.

A Votre Sante,

Pamela Boring, Jim Storfer
