Gentlemen, for some time now your Board and some Dinner Hosts have been contemplating an event featuring the finest wines we have in our cellar. These could be called trophies, or cult wines or collectables. But we think some of them should be offered at a comfortable but substantial dinner. Well, that time has come! Fresh off his hosting of yet another spectacular Ship’s Luncheon, Bob Dickinson (our Wine Committee chairman) is offering up just such an opportunity, but to a very limited number of members and very likely no guests. This will be a stag event.
In the energetic and comfortably casual Tarpon Bend on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables Chef du Cuisine and Proprietor Wayne Cameron Eldred will prepare delectable gourmet cuisine to showcase these amazing wines. (Robert Parker Wine Advocate ratings in parentheses) We’ll start with passed hors d’oeurves and the 2002 Dom Perignon (96). At table Florida lobster tails will showcase the 2007 Marcassin Three Sisters Chardonnay (96). With Porcini Braised Boneless Short Ribs we will enjoy two incredible Australian Shirazes: the 2002 Clarendon Hills Astralis (99) and the 2001 Penfolds Grange (98+). The cheese course will be a twice baked soufflé to go with the 2002 Joseph Phelps Insignia (100!) And to be sure to finish on a sweet note we’ll have the 1995 Chateau Coutet Sauternes with a creamy, caramelized Flan du Fromage.
This is a unique opportunity to sample rare, expensive, and highly rated wines.
There is a limit as to how many we can serve and a short time for your response. Be there or be square.
