On Monday September the 19th, 2022 we had a great reception to our Fall event at LaLouisiane.

For over 30 years, LA LOUISIANE has remained the top New Orleans Cajun Style restaurant in Montreal. Kyle Kerr and his Staff prepared unique offerings for our  IWFS Montreal evening.

It was basically sold out.  We also want to thank Kyle Kerr and Chef and the staff for hard work and big smiles and creating a great fun environment. There was not a quiet moment. Our guests from the Opimian Society commented on the obvious comraderie and sharing of wine knowledge and food.

Earl had a great time presenting the wines with other members of our Branch. It was a fund evening starting at 7 pm and ending as we closed the restaurant and the staff sharing Koval Single Barrel Bourbon shots with us at the end of the evening.

The Menu started with Fresh PEI Oysters and shrimp and moved on to their specialty - a Cold watermelon Gazpacho. The 2nd service was Voodoo Shrimp or Blackened Chicken Livers - Each table was presented with House Baked Corn Bread and Large Cut Sweet Potato Fries. Our Third Service Mains gave a choice between a Seafood Jambalaya, Ribs in Bourbon sauce or a Blackened Cod on Garlic Mashed. But the winner was their famous bread pudding with Caramel and Bourbon carefully poured. Not an empty dish could be seen. We followed it up with choices of Port or Bourbon as sipping shots (is that an oxymoron ?)
The evening had an IWFS Americas surprise. Sylvia Vogel, a past President and our Treasurer for many years represented the Montreal Branch and the Board of the Americas in awarding me a silver medal recognizing the work we have all done over the last few years and especially during the Covid lockdowns. We had alot of great well attended zoom events and a few well attended live ones. I say "we" because it is a team of many members who take the time and energy to find locals and make it happen, including our lost Past President and friend Louis Villeneuve. During the Covid we had our own team of wine and food deliverers - we could have created an IWFS-Dash delivery service. It is interesting to note that we gained members over covid and we have 3 new members from this past dinner who will be acknowledged at the next event. I must thank Vania for her ongoing patience and support of my IWFS work, dining and travals,  and being the necessary designated driver after every event.
