The September 2012 IWFS function was a sumptuous four course dinner at Muriel’s, on historic Jackson Square, Friday the 21st.  Truly a New Orleans original, Muriel's offers a fascinating look into the history of New Orleans.  A table is set nightly for the restaurant's resident ghost Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan, who built his dream house after the devastating 1788 fire in the French Quarter rendered the corner a vacant. In 1814, M. Jourdan lost his beloved home it in a poker game and committed suicide rather than vacate it.

The beef entrée was matched with a 2001 Chateau Pichon-Longeville au Baron.  This wonderful Bordeaux received a Gold Medal at the 2005 Indy International Wine Competition and was recently scored as a 93/100 by Wine and Spirits Magazine.  For those choosing the seafood entrée, a well matched white wine was offered.  Dinner followed a Champagne reception.
