Annually, the Iowa Great Lakes hosts the "Winter Games" the last weekend in January with many activities and events scheduled over a three day period. We have a tradition to host an Okoboji Wine and Food Society event on the Thursday just prior to this big weekend as our own local kickoff. This year our event was held at the Pearson Lakes Art Center on January 23rd at 6 pm with about 15 people in attendance. Many of our members are only here in the summer months or are snowbirds who head south for the winter. So we were delighted to hold this intimate event with time to talk to everyone in attendance. Our theme was "Wine Games" to associate with our local winter games and somewhat of a take off of the olympics. To keep in the game spirit, we included a wine tasting game at our event and table games on the tables. Our decor was Olympic Rings and Olympic table covers. In accordance with the five rings of the olympics we chose five wines and and food to accompany each. It was a night of fantastic food, wonderful wine, and fun fellowship!
