Chateau Cos d'Estournel

Theme Chateau Cos d'Estournel
Venue The Hermès store
Location The historic Bharat Insurance Building in Horniman Circle, Fort
Date Jan 13, 2013
Time 7.30pm

Château Cos d’Estournel is classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru) according to the famous, Brahminical classification of the wines of Bordeaux that took place in the year 1855.  Following the great success enjoyed by the COS over the past 30 years, Robert Parker, the worlds’ most powerful wine critic, rates it on par with the First Growths of Bordeaux even scoring the COS higher than the former in some vintages. Read about the historic connection with India in the attachment.

Jean-Guillaume Prats the dynamic President of the Chateau will be presenting the wines himself and will be showing two of the greatest red vintages from the 21st century along with the very rare Cos d’Estournel Blanc (only 3000 bottles produced) and end with their acquisition in Tokaji with the 2003 Azu from Hetzolo. Read about Jean-Guillaume in the Wine Spectator article, “Young Turks of Bordeaux.”

Jean-Guillaume is already counted amongst the legends not only in Bordeaux but indeed the whole of the wine world. This is going to be a historic occasion as Jean-Guilllaume has accepted a new challenge outside Bordeaux starting in January, but is coming to Bombay never-the-less to keep his date with us. This will most definitely be his last visit to India carrying the Cos flag and perhaps also his last engagement on behalf of his legendary charge. He will be missed by the Bordeaux region as whole, for whom he has been often called upon as a spokesperson at important, prestigious events.

Aurelie Khatau the affable former Commercial attaché from the French Consulate who is the General Manager of the Hermès store has invited us to host the event in her store on Sunday, 13th January, 2013, at 7.30 pm. The beautiful restored space of the historic Bharat Insurance Building in Horniman Circle, Fort will add to the allure of the evening. Rahul Akerkar has set a fitting 4 courses that will be served out of Hermès tableware.
