Xmas is always a nice time to celebrate. Holidays are coming soon and everybody feels happy to get together. For that occasion, we decided to receive one of the best chefs in town in our own garden. One of our members offered her garden to host the dinner, and with a bit of decoration, we managed to make it a very pleasant evening.

Aperitif - We started with the most celebrated hors d’oeuvre in the city of Saigon, the very famous scrambled eggs with Perigord black truffles, followed by a tasty mouclade in a safran sauce with a glass of Billecart-Salmon Brut. Very successful indeed.

We then tasted two other starters with a nice glass of “Passion Blanche” Vin de Pays des Cotes Catalanes, from Bernard Magrez 2006: a warm oyster in a white leek sauce, a warm oyster with urchin coral sauce & a lobster ravioli

We then served the “Cadran Fombrauge” 2nd wine of Chateau Fombrauge, Saint Emilion 2006 together with a duck aiguillette with celery purée, just followed by a beef tenderloin Rossini, with an exceptional Chateau Pape Clement, Cru Classé, Pessac Leognan, 2006.

Gils, the chef of “Les trois Gourmands” mentioned above then served his famous cheeses, which he makes himself, here in Saigon. He finalized this gourmet experience by a new recipe, a r  rum perfumed cigare shaped choco dessert with a glass of Cognac Delamain Pale & Dry XO.

Overall a delightful evening, supervised by our wine specialist Jean-Bernard Baudron and his Oenologist guest, Mr Jan Christoph Visser from the Château Pape Clement, who very thoughtfully sponsored our dinner with 12 bottles of this Pessac Leognan, Cru Classé. The chef Gils, was warmly applauded, as well as our hosts, Ms Yoke Otter who opened her garden for the evening, her husband Wieger Otter who helped setting up the decoration and the hilarious animation, and Ms Dominique Lampel who organized this wonderful dinner.
