Unlike the regions of Sauternes and Barsac in Bordeaux, the Loire Valley has only a very small area that attracts the Botrytis Cinerea (Noble rot) that is the key ingredient that produces the finest sweet and luscious wines of the world. Tonight you will have a unique opportunity to taste the finest of these which includes mature vintages of Vouvray Molleux from Domaines Huet and Bredif and six vintages of the amazing Moulin Touchais dating back to 1945 . Moulin Touchais owned by the Touchais family since 1870 is situated in Doue la Fontaine on the Coteaux du Layon, this 150 hectare estate has 35 hectares under vine dedicated to producing Moulin Touchais from the Chenin Blanc grape.
Our wines tonight are as follows:
Vouvray: 1996 Vouvray ‘Les Haut’ Moelleux, Domaine Huet 1985 Vouvray Moelleux, Domaine Marc Bredif 1984 Vouvray ‘Clos du Bourg’ Moelleux, Domaine Huet
