Menu

■ Appetizer

Crispy Mexican Octopus, Fava Bean Pure, Chorizo Sauce, Black Olive Dust

2019, Pazo Barrates, Albariño

Golden yellow in colour, with an expressive nose of exotic stone fruits and wonderful sharp citrus on the palate, this Albariño is the perfect accompaniment to our appetizer.  Marked by its signature salinity, this wine is produced in one of Spain’s best known wine producing regions, Salnes Valley in Rias Baixaz.

■ First

Porcini mushroom stuffed ravioli, pumpkin velouté, taleggio sauce

2021, Hamilton Russell, Pinot Noir

Hamilton Russell are renowned for being one of the best, if not the best, pinot noir producers in South Africa.  Produced in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley, literally meaning heaven on Earth, this wine offers marvellous complexity.  The wine is not overtly bursting with fruit, but rather, it is soft and marked by its savoury and primal character with dark, spicy and complex fruit.

■ Main

Lamb fillet, pure carrot, sautéed monks’ beard, charred baby leeks, port wine sauce

2007, Isole Olena, Cepparello

Antonio Galloni describes this wine as one which is “utterly thrilling” and that is no surprise as a high-quality Sangiovese wine which are known for their complexity.  The 2009 vintage of this wine has been likened, in style, to the 1990 because of its richness and round character which is full of bursting ripe fruit (and highly rated by many critics, including Robert Parker).  This will be an absolute treat to enjoy alongside the lamb fillet.

■ Dessert

Dark chocolate mousse, vanilla crème Brule, pecan sponge cake
