COMMENTS:

26 people (including 3 guests) attended this October-fest event held at  a family owned Bohemien restaurant, which first opened it doors in 1922.  Located in the Czech neighborhood near the inner city, , the restaurant was (and is) important in preserving their Czech ancestors hospitality and traditions.  The business has remained in the hands of the Kapoun family, and Ron Kapoun, the current head chef entertained and enlightened us about the restaurant and the Czech culture, food and wines.   The restaurant was especially nostalgic to the Deeths, because it was where they had their prenuptial dinner 50+ years ago.

The greeting above the entrance read "Vitame Vas", which means "WE WELCOME YOU".   We certainly felt welcome in a very casual setting, surrounded by art decor from the Czech Republic .The Czechs are mainly known for their beers, but the wines we enjoyed this evening show that they are capable of making good wines, that paired well with the Czech food.

The food was served family style, and it was both tasty and plentiful.   Most of us took enough  food home for another meal !   The Chicken soup was delightful with the Czech Riesling, and we had 2 wines and a Pilsner beer with the 2nd course, which hit the spot!   The liquor, served with the plum pudding went well with the dessert, and put a nice finish on the very traditional Czech cusine.

We all felt that it was a delightful October evening, and enjoyed the food the beverages, and the company of fellow wine lovers!
