Back by popular demand! A Wine Cellar Picnic!
On June 15th, Wine & Food Society of Jacksonville's Cellarer raided the WFS cellar and opened odd lots of wines as well as those wines which had reached their peak. This event was free to our members - with the admission price being a dish to share. 7 guests were welcomed and joined in the fun. Members were able to purchase remaining unopened bottles. During the evening medallions were presented to 4 new members and at the end of the evening 2 guests had joined as well! Members and guests indulged in smoked pork butt, chicken wings, Mayport shrimp, chicken satay skewers, roast chicken and almond tarragon salad, cheeses, broccoli salad, tossed salad, fruit salad and other delights. Dessert included cappuccino cream cheese brownies, blonde brownies and blue cheese. Wines included Gruet Brut Sparkling, Verget Chardonnay 2003, Chateau Catemerle 1996, Clos du Marquis 1996, D'Arenberg Shiraz 1999, Ferrari Carano Tresor 2000, Chateau Berliquet 1997, Marc Mondavi Chardonnay 2010, Marc Mondavi Cabernet 2010, Steele Chardonnay Late Harvest 1997, Pieroth Riesling 1997, Prince Ponlatowski Vouvray 1989, and Cave de Rasteau Vin Doux Naturel 2011.
