This event turned out to be a pre-Coronavirus get together. Shortly thereafter, gatherings were limited to 10 people and the restaurants became take-out only. We were fortunate to get this last bit of fun in. As guests entered, they were greeted with Mardi Gras beads and a flute of tangy Faire La Fete Brut. The Oysters Bienville appetizer served in the shell were paired with crisp and refreshing Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Our salad course was Cajun spiced shrimp and corn salad served with a 2019 Invivo X Sauvignon Blanc.Chef Jason Jensen created a most delicious Turtle Soup enhanced with a 2014 Bodega Colome Malbec. Blackened Redfish paired with a 2012 Lan Reserva Rioja was the perfect entree. The celebrating continued with traditional New Orleans King Cake and a 2016 Lions De Suduirat Sauternes. The member who discovered the "baby" in their dessert cake won a very special bottle of Alexandrie Mothode Champenoise Brut. Renee McClymont was the lottery winner! The festive Mardi Gras theme was reflected in the decor, lovely wine choices, excellent Cajun style foods and fully enthralled members!!
