At year's end, but before the Christmas and New Year season, the Norfolk Chapter gathered at the Divots Rooftop Terrace for a Festive Feast! We welcomed two new couples to our group (Ron & Sharon Deetz and Bob & Susie Lutz), while at the same time we said goodbye to 50+ year, founding members Tom and Tod Dover and Earl & Marilyn Mitchell. We wish them well and thank them for their knowledge, experience and friendship, all of which will be missed.
Our feast began with an Amuse Bouche consisting of a combination of diver scallop, heirloom tomato, scallion and Buerre Blanc served with a 2020 Lauverjat Karine Sancerre Blanc (aka - World's best Savvy-B!). Our Starter was a toasted brioche with caviar and creme fraiche served with a cold Chandon Rose Brut. After a lemon sorbet and fresh mint intermezzo, we were served a wild mushroom Vellutata with brown butter paired with a 2018 Collezione di Famiglia Valpolicella Ripasso. The main course was Beef Wellington, asparagus and duree of potato & butternut squash served with a 2017 El Enemigo Malbec. Finally, our dessert was a maple bourbon cornbread pudding paired with Courvoisier Congnac. What a feast! By evening's end, all had satisfied their need for good food, fine wine and coveted time with friends, a perfect prelude to the holidays!
