It was planned to be an al fresco lunch on the patio deck of the Terminal City Club but a health warning resulting from nearby forest fire smoke restricted our time in “fresh air” to a reception with a glass or two of Nino Franco Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Brut with tasty breaded prawns before heading inside for our meal.

We started with Solsdedt Farm Tomatoes - sungolds, heirloom tomatoes, basil, zucchini, prosciutto chip, pickled tomato dressing, and rye shards which paired well with 2020 Domaine Bailly-Reverdy Sancerre La Mercy-Dieu, then a very tender and flavouful Moroccan Coffee Rubbed Lamb Sirloin - ras el hanout, braised beluga lentils, mint chimichurri, poached Asian pears, kale chips, and bitter chocolate jus with a glass of 2014 Jean-Luc Colombo Côtes du Rhône Les Abeilles. Our main course was followed by a delightful pre-dessert palate cleanser of blackberry sorbet with a decoration of 24 kt gold leaf.

Dessert was an Almond Tart with seasonal fruit and chantilly cream, a perfect match for our wonderful 2003 Domaine Philippe Delesvaux Coteaux du Layon Sélection des Grains Nobles from the Loire Valley.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch from Chef Dan Creyke and our thanks go to member Kim Mead for her highly interesting discussion of the wines.
