“Mothers’ Ruin” – what a special event we enjoyed with a unique presentation of the history of gin and how it is made – so many different styles! – accompanied by slides and three special cocktails, followed by a delicious meal at The Sequel Kitchen and Bar, one of Vancouver’s new restaurants. Master Sommelier Leagh Barkley gave a masterful presentation of gin’s history through the ages while Chis described the three cocktails we enjoyed, the Army and Navy, featuring Dillon’s Dry Gin 7 with orgeat, lemon and angosturas bitters, the Gin Basil Smash (Milena’s favourite), featuring Hayman’s London Dry Gin with lemon and basil, and The Vancouver, featuring Glendalough Dry Gin with B&B, vermouths and orange bitters, all delicious drinks, accompanied by tastes of The Sequel’s bacon jam.
Following a stunning presentation, we enjoyed a dinner of Grilled Rib-Eye Steak with Organic Symphony Greens and a glass of 2009 Chateau Haut-Batailley and ended with Crepes Suzettes and a glass of 2010 Chateau Giraud Sauternes.
Overall, a special event that was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we thank Leagh and Chris and Sequel G.M. Jae Kim for a splendid evening and Milena for her photos of the event.
