The Washington DC Chapter conducts ten dinner events annually. Dinner Chairpersons are selected by the President and rotate through the entire membership. Dinner events take place throughout the DC, Maryland and Virginia area at  restaurants, dining clubs and country club facilities. The food is accompanied by wines selected by the five member wine committee with more than half the wines coming from our extensive cellar facility that has been in existence since the 1950s. Some examples of recurring dinner themes include: Great Wines Dinner, Wine Education Dinner, and Seafood Feast.

April Events

Theme Asian Flare
Venue Peter Chang Restaurant
Location Rockville, Maryland
Date Apr 12, 2016
Time 6:30 PM
Registration Closed on Apr 12, 2016

For the first time in over a decade, the April meeting will be a Chinese dinner, which will take place at Peter Chang in Rockville.  Chef Chang is originally from Sichuan, and his dishes reflect the spicy cuisine of that province.  He was for some time the chef at the Chinese Embassy and has since opened several eponymous restaurants in the eastern United States.  Peter has designed a special dinner for the society in the mode of a classic Chinese banquet.  Most of the dishes he is preparing are not from his extensive regular menu.  Chef Chang is a finalist for a 2016 James Beard award.  We can expect a special culinary experience.

As an added bonus,  Jean-Guillame Prats, son of Bruno Prats of Chateau Cos D'Estoumel, is introducing  a high priced Chinese Wine for distribution  in China and the US.  A representative will attend and present the wine.

Service will be essentially family style.  We suggest that dress be casual, as opposed to our usual custom.  There is a maximum of 40 diners for the event.  Please RSVP by noon on Thursday, April 7.   Cocktails 6:30 PM Dinner     7:00 PM
