In June, IWFS Shanghai had a wonderful event at Guy and Martine's lovely home. Huge thanks to Guy and Martine for their hospitality, especially for: 1) Guy's hard work in preparing for this event (washing glasses and decanters before and after...); 2) Guy's generosity in sharing his wonderful Southern Rhone collection; 3) Martine whipping up wonderful food together with Willy, and finally 4) Jackie and Julien's violin performances. This sets a new bar for the quality of our events.

What was memorable to me was to compare 3 excellent vintages of Beaucastel, to understand the vintage variations and effect of aging. The Beaucastel'89 won the night hands down. The Brusset and Goubert are less known wines but are utterly enjoyable at their age. And finally, the Rayas VT'55 - what can I say! It was in such wonderful shape, ripe, elegant, and seamless, with plenty of life ahead. Guy - thank you for sharing the bottle and the story!
