Theme Lunch Sunday 19th May, Captain Moonlite, Anglesea
Venue Captain Moonlite
Location Torquay
Date May 19, 2019
Time 10:30am

Dear IWFS Victoria Members,

The 20 lucky members who attended last year’s Bellarine Peninsula Getaway will attest to an astonishing meal held at Captain Moonlite. For many this was their stand-out meal of 2018. Co-owner and head chef Matt Germanchis, constructed the meal drawing from his past heading up some of Australia’s best and most innovative modern kitchens (e.g. Pei Modern and Mo Vida) and from the Mediterranean inspired dishes that form part of the normal Captain Moonlite menu. Thankfully for other Branch members and to take full advantage of the stunning views over Anglesea beach, Matt has agreed to cook the same five course fine dining menu for us as a Luncheon on Sunday May 19th. The cost of the function also includes return coach transfer with collection and drop-off from Richmond. In addition, the coach will collect and drop-off from RACV Torquay Resort for those members who would like to extend their stay on the beautiful surf coast.

Please be quick with your bookings, this is a function not to be missed!

Our first function of 2019 was held at Collingwood’s Project 49 on Tuesday 19th February. The generous and light filled space was the perfect venue to showcase delightful wines from our cellar, great service and beautiful ingredients cooked to perfection. For many the stand out dish was the John Dory, zucchini, shellfish butter, pine nut, sea vegetables. This dish proved to be a perfect match with the 2010 Yabby Lake Vineyard Pinot Noir from the Mornington Peninsula and the 2001 Domaine Arlaud Les Sentiers, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru. This was the perfect paring to prove that a white fish dish and red wine can go together beautifully. All in all, a great start to the gastronomic year. A copy of the event menu is attached for those that were unable to attend.

Cheers,

Erik Lehnacker,

President, IWFS Victoria (Australia)
