Dear Members,
Hot on the heels of the stunningly successful Cellar Single Bottle dinner in April, we bring you the
Cellar Two Bottle Dinner. While the format will be more casual than our normal functions, the food and
wine will be top shelf.
The restaurant we have chosen is the one Chef Hat, Saxe in Queen Street, Melbourne. In the almost
two years since its opening, Saxe, with its modern Australian cuisine, has developed an enviable
reputation in Melbourne’s fine dining scene.
For our dinner, Owner and Head Chef Joe Grbac will deliver dishes featuring high quality ingredients
that are chic and downright delicious. To further enhance our experience, Joe has allocated the entire
upstairs portion of the restaurant for our exclusive use.
We have chosen 24 bottles representing 12 different wines. There are no spares and no back-ups.
All are great wines, some of them spectacular. Each wine has been carefully matched with a special
4-course menu developed with Joe.
Included in the wine selection are three Tete de Cuvees from three of the best grower producers in
Champagne as well as the joint winners of Winestate Magazine’s best 2006 Shiraz/Syrah in the world.
To round out the wine list, we have selected mature old and new world Rieslings, three great new
world (NZ & USA) Pinot’s from 2008, and a dessert wine from one of Germany’s finest producers.
This promises to be a very special night!
