Goodbye Gala

Location 22 Kearns Cresent, Andross
Date Jul 13, 2015
Time 18:30

Last Monday, some 65 IWFS members and guests met at the Gala Restaurant in Ardross for, what promised to be another very special culinary event. While, indeed, it turned out to be outstanding, it was also a somehow sad and melancholical occasion because, after some12 most successful years, our dear friends, owners/chefs Hans Lang and Marianne Kempf decided to close their doors at the end of the month to, firstly, take a well deserved break, and then dedicate their professionalism and expertise to some new challenges.

As such, the menu consisted of some of Marianne’s favoured dishes, which included “Hiramasa with purple curry”, “Potato Pot au Feu with black Manjimup Truffle”, “Suckling Pig Confit in Brick Pastry with Scallop wrapped in Spanish Ham”; “Slow cooked Beef Cheek with soft Polenta and fresh Chanterelles”, and lastly “Bitter Chocolate, Cognac Cherries, Blueberry Sorbet and Pistachio Brittle” ; all truly outstanding and most delicious. And what made this dinner even more special was that each course was perfectly matched and complemented, not only by a carefully chosen wine, but also by some specially selected, unusual but really very nice boutique beers, which were expertedely introduced by our own Wine Master and member Brian Fitzgerald. They included a most unusual, but amazingly pleasant smoked beer and the famous cherry beer from Belgium.

Concluding this evening, President Michael Tamburri presented Hans and Marianne with a well deserved ” IWFS Certificate of  Excellence”.
