The Winemaker’s Dinner at Chez Pierre in July was an excellent evening with wonderful food and excellent wine from Deep Woods Estate. Julian Langworthy, Deep Woods’ Chief Winemaker & General Manager, provided us with a humble account of his experience and an expert overview of the wines. Julian has earned awards such as James Halliday's Winemaker of the Year, a Jimmy Watson Trophy winner 2014, Ray Jordan's Winemaker of the Year, and a Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year nominee. This year Deep Woods is the Best Value for Money winery.
We were privileged to be the first in Australia to enjoy a public tasting of the award winning 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine had just been awarded Best in Show by Decanter, among international wines.
During the evening, two new members in attendance were inducted: Campbell Hall and Larry McIntosh. We also recognised five members for their 10 Year service with IWFS, WA: Shirley Haak, Ann Marie Muscara, Ann Kennedy, Faye Sassella-Otley and Graeme Sassella-Otley.
