Date Nov 27, 2011

“Sunday, November 27, 2011 was an important date, because that is when the Inaugural Charter Dinner of the newly formed Western Australian Branch of the International Wine and Food Society took place.

The venue was the Belleview Lounge of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, from where assembled foundation members, potential members and guests marvelled at the splendid view over the delightful Swan River.

It was an auspicious moment and a great honour for Founding President Ulrich Kunzmann when Yvonne Wallis, Chair of the IWFS’s Asia Pacific Zone handed him the official Charter, which will be provisional until the first year of successful operation has elapsed. Yvonne also presented a beautiful hand sewn banner to the new Charter and then ceremoniously decorated Foundation Members with the Association’s medallion.

Following a hearty toast to the new Chapter and to the IWFS its new members and guests proceeded to lavishly decorated dinner tables where Chef Richard Taylor and his team honoured us with a truly outstanding culinary feast. Magnificent and very artistic presentations of superb dishes were admirably complemented by carefully selected Penfold wines, which were crowned by a tasting of the 1984 Grange Hermitage, generously sponsored by Committee Member Michael Tamburri.

The success of the evening was further enhanced by the fact that, by the time of writing this report, this new Chapter already comprised of 42 signed-up members.“
