Muneki Song started his professional career as a Helicopter Pilot in his native Japan, but when he migrated to Western Australia, he undertook a major change in direction. Similar to his world renowned idol Tetsuya Wakuda in Sydney, he did not have any formal kitchen training, but he loved food and had a dream. And so, after many years of hard work, he is now the proud owner/chef of the already multiple award winning Restaurant “Nine Fine Food” in North Perth. (“Nine” simply being the street number).
And this is where recently some 42 members and guests congregated and filled the Restaurant to capacity. After enjoying a fine Welcome-Sake or glass of French Champagne with some beautifully presented oysters, Founding President Ulrich Kunzmann welcomed all guests and was very happy to be able to present all members with their IWFS Medallion, thus completing and confirming their whole membership process.
But then it was time to delight in the attached, very memorable menu. The presentation, creativity, and tastes were superb and were testimony of Mr Muneki’s very high standards and culinary skills.
While it is difficult to single out any particular dish, one of the highlights was certainly the swordfish which, with its delicate miso butter coating, was simply melting away in my mouth.
Carefully selected and complementing wines contributed very positively to this delightful evening.
