The William Heptinstall Trust
The William Heptinstall Trust is a charity that supports the development of young chefs by helping them to undertake a stage or stages of training outside the UK. It is closely associated with IWFS, and has been managed by IWFS members for many years. This together with the catering colleges competition, shows the Gastronomic industry that we are actively contributing to its continued development.
William Heptinstall was a well-known chef and writer, who in his younger years, had benefitted from working in the last Tsar of Russia’s kitchens. The Trust was set up by his family, and has recently benefitted from an increase in its funds following a bequest in memory of John Avery, who had been Chair of the Trust as well as of IWFS. As a consequence of this bequest, the beneficiary has to undertake wine studies.
