Our function for May is a first, thanks to our new member, Richard Joye.
Answering a call by the last Board for fresh ideas and involvement by members other than the usual, Richard proposed a dinner format where two wines for each of the two main courses be served blind and a simple multiple-choice quiz game to help the participants better identify the four wines. Attendees are to be seated six to a table with a member leading the group to a collective answer. It is hoped that the guessing game will prompt members and guests to discuss the characteristics of each wine and learn from each other in the process.
Answers will be discussed by Richard and our Wine Master, Bernie Sim, and inputs from any member will be welcomed. A brief on the wines for the dinner will be distributed.
Two of the wines will be sourced from our cellar - top quality reds that will perfectly match the dish it will be paired with.
The dishes for pairing were carefully discussed with ex-Le Souffle chef, Ms Jessie Sincioco, renowned for her French-Mediterranean cooking, which she prepared at a pre-function tasting last Wednesday, 11 April, in her restaurant at the Rockwell Club attended by Richard and five board members.
