Many of you will remember Ian Shane, a longstanding London Branch member who is now resident in New York. Ian makes a few visits back to London each year and brings with him any interesting wines he has come across in the US so that when he has enough of interest, he can put on a tasting for London Branch.
Ian has acquired a taste for Zinfandels and has offered us a Zinfandel tasting for tonight. He will talk us through some classic Zins from California and elsewhere. Tonight's selection will include 8 wines from William Selyem, Seghesio, and Renwood. There will also be a Zinfandel from the only estate allowed to grow the grape in France, 2005 Z de l’Arjolle, courtesy of Carole Goldberg. We have not held a Zinfandel event for well over 10 years and this evening offers an opportunity to taste great Zinfandel not usually available in the UK. So no matter whether you are already hooked on Zin or want to find out what all the fuss is about, this event will be an unusual and fun tasting.
